#1683 PR merged: make duplicity work backup and restore - see #1668 - fixes PR #1554¶

After testing the updates from PR #1554 several fixes were needed to get duplicity working the whole way.
Perhaps @Lukey3332 could test these updates as well?

The test logs https://gist.github.com/3cbdc35282019b1a554dbd72d3dc1b60 proofs the updates work. I did made some minor changes afterwards and these will be retested next week.
