Relax-and-Recover (ReaR) Issue Template

  • ReaR version ("/usr/sbin/rear -V"):
    2.4.3

  • OS version ("cat /etc/rear/os.conf" or "lsb_release -a" or "cat /etc/os-release"):
    7.5

  • ReaR configuration files ("cat /etc/rear/site.conf" and/or "cat /etc/rear/local.conf"):
    OUTPUT=ISO
    BACKUP=TSM
    TSM_RESULT_SAVE=y
    TSM_RM_ISOFILE=n

  • Hardware (PC or PowerNV BareMetal or ARM) or virtual machine (KVM guest or PoverVM LPAR):
    KVM

  • System architecture (x86 compatible or PPC64/PPC64LE or what exact ARM device):
    x86

  • Description of the issue (ideally so that others can reproduce it):
    rescue-boot.txt

rescue-boot.txt
Precondition: no mac mappings file exists.

Booting rescue image within new kvm client with new mac addresses using virsh console.
MAC replacement section not visible on serial console.
No more console output after "Starting Relax-and-Recover boot script" at all.

virsh console:

....
[ 6.911658] systemd[1]: Listening on udev Kernel Socket.
[ 6.927241] systemd[1]: Listening on udev Control Socket.
[ 6.939132] systemd[1]: Created slice system.slice.
[ 6.954627] systemd[1]: Starting Relax-and-Recover boot script...

Over the vncviewer I see:
...

Running 55-migrate-network.devices.sh...
No network interface mapping is specified in /etc/rear/mappings/mac
The original network interface eth0 00:16:3e:01:43:70 is not available

  1. eth0 00:16:3e:01:43:78 virtio_net
  2. eth1 00:16:3e:01:43:79 virtio_net
  3. Skip replacing for 00:16:3e:01:43:70

Everything is running fine there...

  • Workaround, if any:

  • Attachments, as applicable ("rear -D mkrescue/mkbackup/recover" debug log files):
    rescue-boot.txt
